Betech Seals' history

Betech Seals was founded as a trading company back in the early 1920s, but has been known under its current business name since the late 1990s.

To day Betech Seals is one of the market’s leading suppliers of gaskets, seals, mouldings, bellows, vibration dampers and sheet metal working.

From tool seller ...

The tool firm Ferd. Johansen was established in 1921 by Ferdinand Johansen.

Following the Second World War, the business was expanded to also include technical products, and Ferd. Johansen gradually specialised more and more in this field.

After the last range of tools was sold off in 1981, the firm focused solely on technical articles and seals for the industrial and maintenance sectors.

On 1 April 1991, the third generation of Johansen sold the firm's entire share capital to Betech A/S, a 100 per cent owned subsidiary of the Swedish company Bergman & Beving AB. At the time, Betech A/S was a small conglomerate of companies working in various technically oriented markets.

Group structure has since been changed and the current Betech Seals A/S is owned 100 per cent by Addtech AB of Sweden – a major niche technology group, which also arose from the activities of Bergman & Beving AB.

... to production and knowledge company

In 1992, Ferd. Johansen, which was based in Copenhagen, was merged with Scanlex, based in the village of Bramming in Jutland. Scanlex was a significantly younger production company specialising in punching flat seals and cutting sheet and coil materials.

The company retained the name Ferd. Johansen after the merger. In 1997, however, the name was changed to Betech Seals A/S, and in 1998 the name of our parent company was changed from Betech A/S to Addtech A/S.

Today, Betech Seals A/S has sales, administration and product warehousing in Herlev, west of Copenhagen, and sales and production in Bramming, east of Esbjerg.

The company has about 70 employees. As a player in a particularly competitive industrial market, we work conscientiously on fostering our shared values and corporate culture and on optimising our production processes, business procedures and quality assurance documentation.
